SuperQueeros! for December 30, 2015

It's the last Wednesday of 2015! While you contemplate what issues you will buy to round out your year, let me offer some suggestions: the break out comic of 2015 and a couple of classic 'queeros. SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Jem and the Holograms #10

After nine issues of glam girl power, the series shifts perspective to get Rio's take on the 'Grams and the Misfits, as well as the frontwoman who is stealing his heart. On the eve of 2016, be sure to catch this new take on JatH, a series that defined good comics in 2015.

Rat Queens #14

Dee connects with her brother, Hannah reunites with her father, and Betty and Violet face down an ice dragon. Sounds like the holidays to me!

Morning Glories #49

It's part 1 of "The Election", the finale to season two of Morning Glories! Who will die? Who will resurrect? Who will become class president?

Deadpool and Cable: Split Second #1

Our fav pansexual merc and his time-jumping buddy are back to foil plots, enact schemes, and otherwise mess with the fate of the Marvel U!

SuperQueeros! for September 30th, 2015

A super blood moon and five Wednesdays in the month?! September is really going for broke this year! Check out what comics this strange lunar cycle has brought us... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Archie #3

Veronica Lodge had arrived in Riverdale. Witness a re-imagining of the moment she and Kevin become GBFs! (I hope. He's not the mover and shaker he once was in this universe...)

Morning Glories #48

Art imitates life, which means it's time for an interminable and upsetting debate!

SuperQueeros! for August 5th, 2015

Only a few 'Queeros this week, but what cool ones they are! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #3

Steve Orlando's awesome new Midnighter series continues to kick bad guy butt while dating good guy butt! It looks like the baddie of the month is a post-Convergence Multiplex, but who will the date of the month be? And will they be modeled after one of the cast members of CW's The Flash? #ABoyCanDream

Detective Comics #43
Renee, Maggie, new-Batman, and the rest of the team tackle a new enemy!

Morning Glories #47

The likelihood of more Guillaume this issue seems low, especially if the issue follows the progress of Irene's "field trip" to kill Zoe. On the other hand, this series likes to tell a broad story in revealing snippets, so maybe we'll get some more Tower Ball and Boyfriend Resurrection. After all, if Zoe and Jade can cheat death, why can't gay love?

SuperQueeros! for June 3rd, 2015

The best part of reality-warping crossovers is the new starts for all our favorite 'queeros. This week is about resurrections, and frankly I'm freaking because so many are... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #1

MIDNIGHTER IS BACK! And he's basically getting his Wolverine Origins treatment as he fights a bunch of escapees from the DCU version of Weapon X's Paradise in order to retreive the files of his pre-superqueero days. Come for the bloodshed, stay for finding out just who is Lucas Trent??? (And did he ever date Kevin Keller?)

Wolverines #20

The last issue! It's been five months, but Mystique is finally bringing back her beloved Destiny! And she might also be bringing back another familiar face.... Will it be Wolverine, the father of one of her new sons that she never seems to be raising? Or her secret husband, Professor X, the father of her other phantom-baby?

Years of Future Past #1

And if one Destiny weren't enough, we get another one in the alternate universe book based on Days of Future Past!

Archie #666

It's the "Sign of the Beast" issue, and the forces of Satan have gathered together to END ARCHIE COMICS! But it isn't all bad news: Kevin Keller gets a variant cover and Archie is going to relaunch next month. Take that, forces of evil!

X-tinction Agenda #1

Remember when Rictor used to be in at least one book every month? Yeah, those were good days... (Fun Fact: As a kid I had a HUGE crush on Rictor!) Anyway, he's in this book! W00t!

All New X-Men #41

The kids, including newly out Iceman, take on the Utopians!

Morning Glories #46

It's time for some independent study. That phrase has never seemed more ominous!

Wicked and Divine #11

Ragnarok ends, which means... a new beginning!

SuperQueeros! for April 29th, 2015

Super-villains are ramping up their activity this week, but hopefully they can be stopped by... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Wolverines #16

Remember how most of the Paradise team was murdered at Sinister's fortress? Well it looks like they may be getting a second lease on life... Or, more likely, a time-share on some kind of Frankenstein half-life.

Morning Glories #45

Now that "she's gone", it looks like the crazies are stealing the spotlight. Hopefully Guillaume will be okay!

Convergence #4

It's halfway through the miniseries, so I'm supposing that this issue's surprise super-villain is going to be a pivotal Big Bad.

X-Men #26

The Burning Earth comes to its conclusion and the team fights to break the cycle!

SuperQueeros! for February 11th, 2014

It's Valentine's, and to ring in the holiday, I'm welcoming back an old 'queero! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Wolverines #6

The assault on Sinister's fortress leads to the inevitable consequence of clandestine capers: betrayal! But which Wolvie will be defecting to the side of the (marginally more) Sinister? Plus, the Amazing X-men show up!

Earth 2 World's End #19
Last we left Green Lantern, his boyfriend was in mortal peril and the Spirit of Apokolips was about to kill the Green, the source of all his power!

Morning Glories #43
How do you beat the unbeatable? In a fictional universe whose physical mechanics are dictated by philosophy and whose population are routinely stuck in circular time loops, is anyone truly unbeatable? Conversely, but equally valid, is anyone truly beatable? Is this story unbeatable, or has it already been beaten by its dependence on a multi-volume storyline that is obscured by a non-linear narrative? Are we as comic readers, and therefore comic "real"-izers, beatable? Is a one word solicit unbeatable, or is there a way to extract a paragraph's worth of nonsense from a single word and some stern-faced cover art? In this issue of Morning Glories, absolutely none of these questions will be answered. But we may get hot gay French guys playing Towerball and/or sacrificing a girl.

#Lost2:Lostier

X-Force #15

This is it! The evil-Fantomex storyline finally ends ultimately concludes!

All New X-Men #36

The All-New X-Men take on the Ultimate X-Men and... is that Ultimate Colossus on the cover?!?!? #interrobangable

Harley Corner:

New Suicide Squad #7 and Harley Quinn Valentine's Special #1

After reading a few articles about it recently, I have renewed my subscription to Harely/Ivy: Canon OTP. That means I'll be covering the couple again, even if they don't ever get married on the steps of Arkham! And, just in time to welcome them back, Harley has a Valentine's Special! Watch as our favorite psychologist-turned-icon celebrates the season by tying up Batman and covering the page in hearts! It's basically what you're doodling at work anyway.

#HarleyWin

SuperQueeros! for October 1st, 2014

We've got a more eclectic mix of media this week, from classic comics at your LCS to some less IRL comics. All of them, though, bring the superqueeroics! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Rat Queens #8

The solicit says that, if you can't beat the Old God's occultists, join them, then shiv them in the back with a rusty blade! #RatQueensStyle Sounds like things are getting interesting in for Betty and the Queens!

Burn the Orphanage: Reign of Terror #5

The second miniseries of Burn the Orphanage is finishing up this week, so if you're in the mood read about Bear, a gay bear with the literal heart of a bear, beat the snot out of MannCorp, why not pick up this issue, the prior four in this series, and the three issue series that started his story!

X-Men #20

Psylocke and the X-Men take on the Genespliced, a troupe of alien hybrids!

Morning Glories #41

I've gotten behind on my Morning Glories, so all I can say is what the solicits say: "Nowhere else to go." Gulp.

Thor #1

It's the debut of the new Thor, as penciled by Russell Dauterman!

Plus! Maybe you remember Terry Blas's Briar Hollow webcomic? Well issue #6 is starting, and it's starting out sexy! Plus, if you pop over to Northwest Press, you can order a copy of Dash #1, a queer noir that came out this month!

And in the queer adjacent category we have Gotham Academy #1 and Wonder Woman #34!

SuperQueeros! for September 10, 2014

This week brings back people you thought long gone. People and... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Batgirl: Future's End #1

Simone gives us a peek at her future for Babs, as well as for Alysia and James Gordon. But after Batgirl's bae gets fridged and she quits the superhero game, who will carry on her legacy? And will they be able to draw her out of retirement?

Morning Glories #40

It looks like Jade is back!

Prophet Strike File #1

Get the low down on all the characters in the Prophet-verse, including John Ka!

Plus, X-Force #9 sees Psylocke and her team take on MI-13, Betty and Veronica #272 sees the girls leave Riverdale and their GBF, Kevin, behind, and Ms. Marvel dogsits!

SuperQueeros! for July 2nd, 2014

Marvel's gearing up for their movie release this weekend, so NONE of this week's titles are from Marvel. As I was reminiscing with my landlady today, where, oh where, did the gay sci-fi heydays of Jack Harkness go? Thankfully, we've got some classic titles this week to keep us going. SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Earth 2 #25

Okay, this title is fast becoming the Ultimate-verse of DC. This issue we get the landmark debut of a Superman of color, Val-Zod! And he literally has to overcome the twisted, white, heteronormative patriarchy of his newly evil predecessor, Kal-El. The fact that he's accompanied by two golden age heroes, one re-imagined as a queer character and the other as a person of color, is kind of a huge deal. You might want to pick this issue up IRL. When Miles Morales and Val-Zod are competing as box office mainstays, it might pay to have a copy on hand to auction.

Morning Glories #39

Now that the straight twin is inhabiting the gay twin's body, we kind of lost our regularly occurring queer character. Sure his cute French boyfriend is still around, but he's just mopey now. Someone needs to resurrect our gAyPI superqueero quickly! Or give Jade a girlfriend. She's alive again, right?

Hack/Slash: Son of Samhain #1

Cassie Hack is back! Maybe this time her slasher partner will be a girl? And there will be romance? #notholdingmybreath

SuperQueeros! for April 16, 2013

This week... I Was A Teenage Vampire Nanny! Plus a TON of all your favorite... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

X-Men #13

Shogo's past - and future! - are revealed! But what do they want with our favorite fang-y mall rat? And will there be anything for Bling! to punch?

SuperQueeros! for February 19th, 2014

Last week I missed a couple of issues that came out: Life with Archie (Kevin Keller and Clay Walker) and Rachel Rising (Aunt Jonny-in-a-dog). This week I've got 7 books under the cut, so you might be reading until next week even if I didn't get all of this week's... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

X-Men #11

The Sisterhood is upping its firepower by bringing in Selene and Madelyne Prior. It seems that Bling! is going to have a lot more to punch through than just Sentinels in this issue...

SuperQueeros! for January 8th, 2014

Doctor Who #15

Did everyone watch the 50th anniversary special??? Wasn't it EXCELLENT? Anyway, back in comicsville, it's the Doctor and Oscar Wilde against that alien gunman! How much wit can one alien take???

Saga #16

I think last issue we found out that the reporter duo are queer! Or, at least, that they are a couple who express the same gender. Alien sexuality is so treacherous to try to decode... But I say they read queer! Now what are their names, again?

SuperQueeros! for November 6th, 2013

Following on from a month of endings, we have a brand new SuperQueero title beginning this week! That's right, it's Northstar's new Amazing X-Men! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Amazing X-Men #1

As is customary in comics these days, the death of a classic hero heralds not inaction, but the beginning of a quest. Usually the quest is for the perished hero zherself, but for Nightcrawler of the X-Men the quest will be undertaken by his teammates: Northstar, Storm, Iceman, Firestar, Beast, and Wolverine have all banded together to get back the fun-loving demon-elf, and it's fixing to be AMAZING. No news yet on how this will affect Northstar's marriage...

SuperQueeros! for September 18th, 2013

There's a new book in town (if only for the week)! The Doctor has picked up one of the world's most famous 'queeros, Oscar Wilde, in order to pepper his next adventure with Gallifreyan-level wit! Also, Supurbia turns it up a notch, Morning Glories no doubt puts another notch in its belt of murders, and Ultimate X moves a notch above the States when it gets its first gay president (of Utopia)! All in a week's work for... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

The Mirth scandal erupts and Kevin is caught in it through his association with Veronica!

Morning Glories #29

Evidently this book is coming out this week, not last week. #dontholdyourbreath

SuperQueeros! for July 24th, 2013

I don't know about you, but I am totes excited for Uncanny Avenger's rebirth of a 'queero! Plus, the next issue of Young Avengers, Morning Glories, and more! Dang, it's a good week to be... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Uncanny Avengers #10

Look who's baaaack!!! Its Daken!!!! I wonder what his cool new Horseman of the Apocalypse powers will be? Think his pheromones are toxic now? Or his healing factor can turn into a spaceship? Maybe he has projectile claws!!! Anyway, Im pretty sure we won't be getting any assimilationist rhetoric from the son of Wolverine; hopefully everyone else will follow his lead too!

Young Avengers #8

With Prodigy now in tow, the team is ready for their dimension-hopping escapades to begin! The solicit says the "Journey into Mystery fans are going to squee their tiny heads off. I wonder what that could mean for the team's first blunder across space-time barriers?

Morning Glories #29

Now that Casey is back/dead, it's time for a NEW ASSIGNMENT! What is the status quo this season???

A Distant Soil #41

Bringing new (ish) meaning to the word "flamer", this queer-positive book is entering a new chapter. Now that the hierarchy is defeated, the good guys have to navigate a world of factional conflicts. #justlikeSyria :(

It's a hummingbird! It's a Hot Wheels Plane! It's... No teaser this week! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgendered, and queer in comics today!

Morning Glories #28

Evidently this issue is going to be a double-sized conclusion to the first arc of the new season. That's two double size issues all at once! I wonder if that means that the trade will only be issues 27 and 28... ANYWAY IS THAT HISAO/JUN ON THE COVER WTF I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD! And, most importantly, is he gay like his twin?

Prophet #36

No mention of John Ka in the solicit, but it is getting pretty dramatic in the Prophet-verse!

FF #8

Everyone goes to rescue Bentley-23! Will Tong's gender identity help her save the day?

Chew #35

The hunt for the vampire continues! I don't think we had John or Mike last issue... fingers crossed! And also hidden far away from any chibopathic mouths!

Avengers Arena #11

Now that Mettle is totes dead and Finesse is outside of Chester's Mill, Hazmat and Reptil are evidently pairing up. Unless this is a bi triple involving Bloodstone, color me YAWN. Unless unless this is just build-up for killing off Reptil...

X-Men #2

John Sublime's sister is on the warpath, and Sublime himself is here to help the team take her down. But with his sister in control of Omega Sentinel, will the X-men survive long enough to decide if they can trust him? Oh, and will we see more of Bling!?????????

Teen Titans #21

Everyone knows Robin is bad! How does Bunker feel about one of his straight best friends being a totes baddie???

All New X-Men #13

The baby X-men take the fight to Mystique as they try to clear their names!

Justice League Dark #21

We find out how all the kids die! Including Xanadu? Isn't that exactly how her powers don't work?

Young Avengers #6

One of the best and queerest books around tackles Speed and Prodigy, the least interesting character and the most PERFECT (if he were queer) character, respectively. Wiccan and Hulkling might show up in this book, or it will be about the twenty-something experience at a desk job. So, basically, you can't go wrong with this one!

True Blood #14

More undead waitresses! Possible Lafayette?

SuperQueeros! for May 29th, 2013

Fifth Wednesdays are always a little barren, but we've got some winners this week! Including one of my most highly anticipated books of 2013, which makes it on the list via an intriguing cameo... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgendered, and queer in comics today!

EDIT: The last Archie Meets Glee is out this week too!

X-men #1

With nary a 'man in sight, this X-men title is all XX! When Jubilee returns to the school with a mysterious orphan and a villain on her tail, Storm assembles the most butt-kicking X-team ever: Rachel Grey, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Rogue, and Jubilee! And what role will bi girl Bling! have in this title, given that the first two pages set up a mysterious conflict between her and Mercury...?

Morning Glories #27

Season 2 starts here! And the title is... "There Are No Beginnings". So what does that mean for the resolution of the threads set up at the end of issue #26? Will Cassie end up saving everyone? Will dead people be coming back? Now that his twin is gone, what name will Jun/Hisao go by? And will his bf survive Irena's quickly unraveling psychosis?

Chew #34

Now that Tony has a lead on his sister's murderer it's good-bye to all his hot sailor friends and hello to a treacherous manhunt! With out gays trailing, will we get to see the next phase in Mike's machinations? And will John be on Tony's side, or sabotaging him?

Earth 2 Annual #1

Earth 2 gets a new Batman!! But the real question is, will Green Lantern get ANY page time?
