SuperQueeros! for September 2nd, 2015

Midnighter and Grayson whip out their stakes, the GCPD face a famous daughter, and Kimber and Stormer are implode! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #4
If Midnighter is a blonder, gayer Batman and Grayson is an older, hotter Robin, then is this issue the perfect second date or a vampire slaying spree? Aw, who am I kidding? It's both!

Detective Comics #44
Can Montoya, Sawyer, and the rest of the GCPD survive the onslaught of the Joker's Daughter?

Jem & the Holograms #6
The antics of last issue have the Holograms expelled from the Battle of the Bands and Kimber declining Stormer's calls! Will Jem get them back on stage in time to win the hearts of the music loving universe? Will

House of M #2
Now that Pietro is definitely defecting and betraying his father, will his nephews have to step up to the plate?

SuperQueeros! for August 26th, 2015

Tigers and Popeyes and Grootslangs, oh my! There's a lot of threats out there in the comic-verse, and thankfully there are also a lot of... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Lumberjanes #17

Jen has rescued our crew, but can Rosie and the Bear Woman rescue reality from the Grootslang? Or will they need a little help from some Lumberjanes?

Batgirl #43
As Alysia and Jo's nuptials draw closer, so do some hungry, 'girl-eating tigers! Can Babs save the ceremony and the lives of Burnsides' citizenry?

Harley Quinn #19
Now that Harley has recovered from her spinach-induced coma, it's time for her to strap on some mallets and save her Gang o' Harleys from the evil Popeye who clown-napped them! Guest starring Poison Ivy!

Teen Titans #11
Though the team has just escaped their captors, the solicit tells us that freedom won't last for long. Can our young heroes bust out of prison and still retain enough credibility to clear Superboy's name?

X-Men '92 #3
With the X-men out of commission, Psylocke, Deadpool, and the rest of X-Force '92 must come to their rescue!

Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #3
Speaking of Deadpool (whose crush on Spider-man I have now accepted as canonical queerness until persuaded otherwise), his saga of how the first Secret Wars actually ended is almost ending itself!

Justice League 3001 #3
This book is an odd one to include in the list. By introducing male personalities into female bodies and vice verse, JL 3001 set itself up as a great take on gender. But then they totally wasted it on terrible misogynistic humor. So I guess see if they improved this issue?

SuperQueeros! for August 19th, 2015

So many new comics this week! Including a short story focusing on my favorite non-mutant X-men, Kyle Jinadu! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Secret Wars Journal #4
Kyle is a man on the run in Sina Grace's "Another Last Stand". This time, though, he's finally running toward something, not away. See, he's located the world's most dangerous mutant and he's heck-bent on recruiting her to help him break into a mutant death camp and save his husband, Northstar!

Archie #2
So! A euphemistic "lipstick incident", a tight-lipped Jughead, and a certain Ms. Lodge moving into town... Will Kevin and the Riverdale crew be able to crack the mystery of the break-up of Betty and Archie before this reboot returns to the status quo?

X-tinction Agenda #3
As the X-men suit-up to take out Karma and the rest of the Genoshans, Triage is forced to resurrect the world's most tenacious super-villain, Cameron Hodge!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #18
Archeus continues to beat up Willow and Buffy, make Angel and Spike fight, and sick his minions on Dawn, baby Giles, and Andrew. This book is so awesome.

Secret Six #5
Catman threatens to tear apart the new happy family when he finds out who Big Shot's wife is. Meanwhile, Porcelain attends a cook out!

Rat Queens #11
It's off to see the wizards (about saving the Necromancers)! The Rat Queens leave home to seek an audience with the Council of Ten at Mage University, which means that comic readers everywhere will finally learn how much gratuitous violence one campus can handle.

Runaways #3
And now the Runaways have run away! Well, most of them... Some stayed behind to tattle and alert the authorities. But given how many students the authorities murder every year, how will they treat a snitch? And given that one of the authorities is Valeria Richards, how far do the Runaways think they can get?

Harley Quinn & Power Girl #3
How are our dynamic duo doing on getting home? Well, they're about to crash into the Carnal Canyons of Lustox Moon so... they're about halfway there, I'd say.

Wonder Woman #43
Now that Donna has escaped custody, how will Diana track down her bloodthirsty mini-me?

SuperQueeros! for August 12th, 2015

This week is a week of wonderful Kevin Wada covers and the awesome bi characters to whom they are awarded! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Constantine: The Hellblazer #3
YASS! This brand new series for good ol' J.C. reestablishes his bisexuality! And did you see the guy he was checking out in issue #2? Adorbs! Tall, dark, with a winning smile... Actually he was a lot like Georgina Snow, the character from J.C.'s past that is taking over the book's covers this week and just generally being the awesome rival that Constantine loves to hate. I wonder if that's going to lead anywhere romantic? Alternately they may just team up to resurrect the ghost of John's best friend and Georgina's ex, Gaz. Or both!

Catwoman #43
I missed the confirmation of Selina's bisexuality earlier this year. But there's no way this cover could miss! Also, Selina's game is starting to feel the strain as all her pawns start to realize she's playing them. Will Selina be able to right the good ship Gotham, or is she about use one of her nine lives?

Earth 2: Society #3
So, you've got a new utopia and then the head of state gets assassinated. What to do when the only vacuum running is a power vacuum? Either go talk to the X-Men about their failed nationstate, or check-in with Lois Lane, the Red Tornado!

New Suicide Squad #11
The new recruits show their stuff while Harley does what a true icon does best: judge.

Orphan Black #5
We get a look into the psyche of Rachel, the Evil Charlie Brown of the clone club.

Walking Dead #145
Aaron wasn't on any of the pikes at the end of last issue, so maybe eh'll be in this one!

A-Force #3
included only for it's cover, the awesomeness of the cast, and the possibility that Sister Grimm is a little more sapphic in this reality?

SuperQueeros! for August 5th, 2015

Only a few 'Queeros this week, but what cool ones they are! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #3
Steve Orlando's awesome new Midnighter series continues to kick bad guy butt while dating good guy butt! It looks like the baddie of the month is a post-Convergence Multiplex, but who will the date of the month be? And will they be modeled after one of the cast members of CW's The Flash? #ABoyCanDream

Detective Comics #43
Renee, Maggie, new-Batman, and the rest of the team tackle a new enemy!

Morning Glories #47
The likelihood of more Guillaume this issue seems low, especially if the issue follows the progress of Irene's "field trip" to kill Zoe. On the other hand, this series likes to tell a broad story in revealing snippets, so maybe we'll get some more Tower Ball and Boyfriend Resurrection. After all, if Zoe and Jade can cheat death, why can't gay love?

SuperQueeros! for July 29th, 2015

There's not a lot "coming out" this week, so I'm dedicating this post to a book that slipped past my radar for a few months: Jem and the Holograms! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Jem and the Holograms #5
The new IDW reboot of the classic '80s TV show is kicking butt, taking names, and queering your childhood crushes! Specifically Kimber, Jem's biological younger sister, and Stormer, member of rival band "The Misfits", have been reimagined as a star-crossed super-couple. Kimber and Stormer started off the series with an adorable meet-cute, but as things started heating up between both the couple and their bands, the budding romance has come under heavy fire! (Feel free to insert all the "storm" and "timber" puns you want here.) This latest issue promises even more drama for the couple as Kimber finds out who sabotaged the Holograms' first show. Based on the cover it looks like ancient grudge is going to break into new mutiny! Will Skimber survive?

Plus, Batgirl #42 and Batgirl Annual #3 come out this week. Between these two books, Babs basically takes a tour of the DCU. She's bound to see 'queeros at some point!

SuperQueeros! for July 22nd, 2015

Marvel publishes a book that doesn't tie into Secret Wars, Titans clash, and ex-villains chat. Plus, is Justice League 3001 a queer title in a positive way, or a heteronormative way? SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Uncanny X-Men #35
It's Mystique vs. Magik as my favorite queer mutant slips back into the title she's going to headline after Secret Wars. Will this issue lay the groundwork for that status quo?

Teen Titans #10
It's a clash of the Titans in Chicago! Which team will emerge victorious?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 10 #17
Angel and Xander bond over their mopey attitudes and statuses as ex-villains while Buffy and Spike navigate their new relationship. No big news on the Willow and Andrew fronts though... Also, survey: who in the Scooby gang haven't ever been a villain?

Archie vs. Sharknado #1
I am including this book because Kevin was on one of the alternate covers. Hopefully he and his beau will meet a creatively grizzly end!

Justice League 3001 #2
Okay, I am definitely a newcomer to this parallel future, but the premise is that the JLA gets reincarnated into future peoples' bodies. The "queer" part is that sometimes the old hero's sex and the new body's sex don't match, and sometimes the resulting gender expression is not what you would expect. The whole point of this team is to flip the standard formula on its head, but whether it addresses the queer aspects of its queering of the JLA (well executed or otherwise) is still unknown. So, check it out at your own risk?

Prez #2
So far the queers in this have been incidental, but I can feel in my bones that this book will bring the LGBTQueers!
