Superqueeros for May 4th, 2011

It's a motley assortment of queers in this week's comics shipment, but it's spearheaded by the epic conclusion to the most anticipated Secret Six story of all queer-story! (That's queer history, of course)

Secret Six #33
It's the end of "Darkest Hour", the awesome Secret Six story where the team fights its deceased members to see who gets to use the "Get Out of Hell Free" card! Someone's going to use it, but who will it be? I'm squeeing for Knockout to get the chance to return topside, but knowing Simone and her ever-expanding team of villains we'll probably get more than one resurrection. As long as one is Scandals' rowdy redhead, though, I'll be happier than a pig in mud!

House of Mystery #37
Okay, so the solicit says "a gang of mysterious strangers appears in the House of Mystery looking for one Lotus Blossom Mackenzie." Given the whole world-flipped-upside-down cliffhanger ending to the last issue I'm hoping that this "gang of strangers" involves some queer character, and my highest of hopes is that it includes Tursig. If it doesn't House of Mystery and I may begin seeing other people. Tursig hasn't been in so many of these issues recently! #VanishingGays

Fame: The Cast of Glee
Chris Colfer in comic book form! Also, other Glee actorzzzz... But Chris Colfer!!! The solicit doesn't say much, but if you're just starting your Mr. Colfer stalking this will probably condense all his interviews over the past 2 years into a handy two or three pages. And if, like me, you're already a huge Gleek then it'll combine three of your loves: comics, homos, and Gleeeeeeee!

Herc #2
If you don't remember, Herc's a canon Kinsey bisexual, so his continuing series makes the superqueero cut! Plus we get shots like this one. Anyone would go a little gay for that, am I right? And it's got Greg Pak co-writing, so it's got to be good!

Chris Colfer is a show-tune singing NINJA!

Chris Colfer, better known as Kurt Hummel from FOX's hit tv show GLEE, appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, a popular British late-night show in the UK with co-stars Matthew Morrison and Amber Riley. Colfer has been getting major air-time and is quickly becoming the show's break-out star. As far as I've seen, he's been booking just as many talk-show appearances as the show's "stars" like Lea Michelle and Cory Monteith. On this specific episode though, Jonathan Ross somehow got word that Colfer can not only belt a high G but also stab you in the eye with a sai sword.

Check out the video below:

I can only hope some Hollywood exec sees this and decides to cast Chris in the sequel to the horribly mishandled movie adaptation of Elektra (which starred Jennifer Gardner):

Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long SHOW CHOIR?!

Glee + Joss Whedon = Geekgasm... or... Gleekgasm, if you will.

Glee + Joss Whedon + Neil Patrick Harris + Kurt's new boyfriend = the rough equivalent of a gay geek fourgy of indeterminate splendor.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Michael Ausiello revealed that not only is Joss Whedon slated to direct an episode of the hit tv-show, but Neil Patrick Harris is in definite talks to guest star in the episode.

Ausiello also notes that this is not only a reunion for Whedon and Harris, who famously partnered for the award-winning Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog, NPH will also be reunited with choreographer Zachary Woodlee, who choreographed the musical episode on How I Met Your Mother.

On top of that, if adding Neil Patrick "Gay Man of the Decade" Harris to your list of guest stars wasn't enough, it was also revealed that teen queen, Kurt, is finally getting a boyfriend. No more mopey-eyed, unrequited stares at Finn for our limp wristed lothario. And even better, we're dodging that tired gay high school storyline of the fairy dating the closeted jock secret relationship bullet. It's 2010 and gay teen relationships are in. The relationship is described as a "power couple", "Prom King and King."

I. can't. wait.

The gayest show on TV just got EVEN gayer. Oh, and to put the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae... Jane Lynch will be singing "Vogue" on the Madonna episode. *win

Joss Whedon + Glee = My Television Exploding with Joy

So news of geeklebrity, Joss Whedon's, upcoming directorial stint on an upcoming episode of Glee have been bopping around the intertubes today.

When did Fox start fulfilling my every hope and desire, instead of beating it with a baseball bat, eviscerating it, and then raping its lifeless corpse (in that precise order). Could Fox soon replace ABC as my primetime network to beat?

ABC: Brothers and Sisters (Scottie! *drool*), Modern Family, Cougar Town (surprisingly funny), Ugly Betty
Fox: Glee, Dollhouse, So You Think You Can Dance.

Tough choice. I think ABC still wins out since SYTYCD is a reality show, and I end up fastforwarding through all the commentary and wind up watching about 25% of the actual content.

With Whedon coming on board with Glee, it begs the question... which beloved character is he going to kill off?!

My money's on Sue or Wheels. Joss has a history of killing off lesbians and plucky male side-kicks.
