Midnighter and Apollo #3
Apollo and Midnighter won their fights! Sort of. You see, Apollo is in Hell. But don't worry, Midnighter is setting off to bring him back! Can Midnighter's supercomputer brain count all the ways that the magic of Hell can sway a battle, or will Midnighter be reunited with Apollo... IN DEATH?

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #1
Fan favorite Doctor Aphra gets her own solo series! Will her evil ex, Sana Starros, be making a return to antagonize the galaxy's best archaeologist extraordinaire?

Harley Quinn #9
Harley gets her own psychiatrist! Will he be able to survive her onslaught of crazy, or will he be following her down the yellow brick road to insanity?

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ground Zero #1
Harley revives a new Joker Clan!

Wicked and Divine #24
It's a new year, just in time for New Year's Eve!

If you're looking for a Wonder Woman fix this month, she graces Justice League #10 and then meets the Bionic Woman in Wonder Woman '77 Meets the Bionic Woman #1!

Deadpool #23
Deadpool starts on his revenge rampage against Madcap's revenge rampage!

SuperQueeros! for November 2nd, 2016

It's that time of year again: the time we sit back, eat candy, and rest up for casting our ballots next week. Let's read a bunch of comics about elections while we wait! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Bitch Planet #9
Dreams do come true: Eleanor Doane is... President Bitch!

Prophet Earth War #6
The miniseries concludes this week! If things go south for the Johns, hopefully it won't be an omen for next week...

Midnighter and Apollo #2
Midnighter is cornering Bendix while Apollo fights Mawzir. But can a couple divided stand, or will Midnighter have to choose between vengeance and his boyfriend?

Catwoman Election Night #1
Catwoman takes things into her own hands when the election gets heated! Plus, President Beth Ross (a.k.a., Prez) shows up to help!

Harley Quinn #7
Harley and her punk rock band are deep undercover! But for an ex-Arkham inmate, what part of being a thief and murder is "undercover"?

Death of X #3
Emma and Scott put their plan into action!

Deadpool and the Mercs for Money #5
This is Domino's team now!

Wicked & Divine #23
New story arc, plus an alternate cover by Kevin Wada!

Motor Girl #1
Terry Moore's latest series starts here, and I'm gambling that there will be some cool queers somewhere in the cast.

SuperQueeros! for October 5th, 2016

It's a week of fighting underground monsters for Midnighter, Harley, and the rest of the... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter and Apollo #1
The best boyfriends in all of comics are back, and they're busting up subway pirates and their subterranean gods! Just another slice-of-life comic from Steve Orlando! #RelationshipGoals

Uncanny X-Men #14
M crosses some moral boundaries, while Mystique leaves them in the dust. Can the team stop Exodus from killing a whole anti-mutant rally? #WhoDugUpExodus?

Insexts #8
The lovers head to Paris to recuperate... and discover the horrors that lie beneath the City of Frights Lights! #WeAreMonsters

Death of X #1
How did the whole X-Men vs Inhumans things start? What happened to adult Cyclops? Find out here! #ItsMorphinTime

Harley Quinn #5
Speaking of underground, some knights have crossed Harley, so the Clown Queen of Crime hits the local punk scene! I'm sure that's not a non-sequitur in the story. #CosplayImperative

Deadpool and the Mercs for Money #4 and Deadpool: Back in Black #1
Deadpool is all about new this week! He's got a new team of mercs, including Domino, Machine Man, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and he's got a new costume in Back in Black: the Venom symbiote!

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

SuperQueeros! for May 4th, 2016

Happy Star Wars Day! As we all wait for FinnPoe to become canon, why not kick back with a few of these... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems #2

Steven starts to have nightmares about the glass ghost Pearl made up. But it's all a dream, Amythest hasn't found any clues, and people in Beach City definitely aren't turning into glass. Right? RIGHT? #keepbeachcityweird

Wicked + Divine #19
Persephone and her crew make a bid to bring Dionysus into their fold. But what do they need with a bacchanalian hivemind? Plus, Ananke discovers Minerva's ruse!

Midnighter #12
Midnighter, Apollo, and the Suicide Squad versus Henry Bendix's latest and greatest creation! Will the addition of Task Force X tip the scales against "The Unified"? Or is the whole truly greater than the sum of its parts and are our heroes truly as dead as this cover implies? Bonus teaser: can Bendix survive the judgment of Amanda Waller?

New Suicide Squad #20
Back in their less chaotic eponymous title, the Deadshot has to swallow his pride and ask for the Captain's help to save his life! Will Deadshot choose a fate worse than death in order to avoid literal death?

Rat Queens #16
Now that the Queens are down one rockabilly sorceress, they decide the best course of action is to head back home to Pallisades to level up, restock, and check in on their boos and baes. Spoilers: everything has turned to garbage. And if there's one thing the Rat Queens know how to do, it's take out the garbage (by cutting a swath of destruction through whatever is in their way)!

Uncanny X-Men #7
The Uncanny X-Men continue their path through a twisted version of the Mutant Massacre: Sabretooth and M investigate a new mass extinction of the Morlocks. Meanwhile Psylocke and Magneto investigate a vision from Archangel's head and end up at a tent revival lead by a beatific and self-mutilated Warren Worthington III.

SuperQueeros! for April 6th, 2016

It's the end of an era! The Batgirl of Burnside enters her denouement, Midnighter's ex flies back into the picture,  and Harley is only in three books this week. SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #11
It's finally time for Apollo's landing! Apollo has been keeping an eye on his ex, but this week we get the first meeting of the two former husbands! Midnighter can survive a midair fight against a dozen Metroplex clones, but can he survive... a broken heart?!

Harley Quinn and Suicide Squad April Fool's Special #1
When you're the super-villain shrink to the A-List, what do you do when you need a new target? You do your job, of course! Harley starts Evil Anonymous in order to help her contemporaries move from being perpetrators to victims. But of all the people she's playing, who is playing Harley?

New Suicide Squad #19
The Fist of Cain has our anti-heroes against the wall! Will Task Force X be able to wiggle out of this one, or are they finally going to live up to the name of their comic?

Injustice Gods God Among Us Year Five #7
Harley and Catwoman head off on their own and run across Damien, just as he's working to become the next Nightwing!

Batgirl #50
Babs' epic adventure in Burnside comes to a conclusion! When the smoke clears, where will the conflict leave Batgirl, and will she be changed forever? (Or will it just be for the next two issues?)

Prophet Earth War #3
John Ka and crew are on a quest to be your Terran sniper.

The Wicked + The Divine #18
Persephone's story arc starts up this week!

The Uncanny X-Men #6
Archangel takes center stage for the Apocalypse War!

Archie #7
Archie and Veronica have crossed Hiram, and now there will be heck to pay!

SuperQueeros! for March 2nd, 2016

It's March Madness! Which is to say, this week everyone is crazy. Midnighter stupidly takes on the criminally insane Suicide Squad, Batgirl is literally losing her mind, and the X-Men take the fight to the crazily overpowered Dark Riders. Are these vigilantes out of their minds? SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!
Midnighter #10
To get back some God Garden tech, Midnighter had to steal from Taskforce X. Now Harley, Deadshot, Parasite, and the rest of the gang are here to dole out the consequences!

Batgirl #49
Now that we know Babs' memory is being siphoned off by her childhood friend and brand new nemesis, it's time for the Batgirl family to journey into her mind, defeat this new rogue, and save Barbara's sanity!

Uncanny X-Men #4
Mystique and Fantomex join up to complete their mission for the Hellfire Club. But what are they hoping to learn from infultrating the Someday Corporation? What does the Corporation have to do with the Dark Riders? Will the answer be that they're using the Dark Riders to kill mutant healers so that they can drum up business for their cryogenics business in a straightforward allegory for corporate greed? Or is there more to this story than a simple morality tale decorated with plastic smiles by Greg Land?

Deadpool Corner: In Deadpool #8, Wade goes after Sabretooth for the murder of his parents, which will probably be confusing for the (unsually) innocent 'tooth, and in Uncanny Avengers #6 everyone is mad at Synapse.

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

SuperQueeros! for February 3, 2016

It's crossover city this month! Midnighter crosses paths with another set of DCU spies, Batgirl leans on an old teammate for help, and the X-Men fight to save one of their ex-members.  SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #9
Long ago Batman founded The Outsiders. As a Batman analogue, what sort of super-group would Midnighter found? As a questing vigilante hunting for more God Garden gadgets, what super-group will Midnighter need to steal from this month? IMO, these questions have the same answer: The Suicide Squad!

Batgirl #48
With Batgirl losing more and more of her memories, it's time for her to turn to Black Canary for help!

Uncanny X-Men #3
Next on the deadpool list is Triage! Can Magneto and Psylocke save him, or are they too practiced at killing to be of any use to a healer with a death sentence? Also, what's Mystique been up to?

Deadpool Corner: Deadpool: Mercs for Money #1 sees Deadpool and his band of merry mercenaries take on the Heroes for hire mantle, while Uncanny Avengers #5 ushers in the first post-Secret Wars appearance of Gambit.

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

SuperQueeros! for January 6th, 2016

Welcome to 2016, a year where queer superheroes headline successful solo titles, punch holes in the universe, and follow in their daughters' footsteps! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #8
After his successful vampire hunting campaign with Grayson, a.k.a. the most eligible super-spy in the DCU, Midnighter has attracted a job offer from the international espionage organization Spyral. Unfortunately for Midnighter, Spyral is not accustomed to hearing the word, "No." Unfortunately for Spyral, Midnighter is not accustomed to speaking with anything other than his fists.

Ultimates #3
Ms. America Chavez and the Ultimates have done it: they've transformed Galactus from a harbinger of death into a giver of life! But is Galactus on the side of the heroes? Or is a universe without planetary extinction actually a curse more than a blessing?

Uncanny X-Men #1
Mystique, M, and Magneto lead a crew of villains and X-Force members to do the dirty work that the Extraordinary X-Men can't do. These are the B.A.M.F.s that fans want and the super-villains mutant-kind needs!

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

SuperQueeros! for December 2nd, 2015

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Here's some suggestions: Harley is starting a team-up book, Iceman is starting a new adventure as an out X-Man, and Midnighter is starting to solve the mystery of the God Garden. SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

All-New X-Men #1
Did you catch Dennis Hopeless' interview on Rachel and Miles X-Plain the X-Men about this book and Bobby's new queer identity? While we won't be seeing much of Bobby exploring his sexuality in this first storyline, this is the number one stop for stories starring your new favorite superqueero, time displaced Iceman! Plus, Oya, Wolverine, and Kid Apocalypse!

Extraordinary X-Men #3
Meanwhile, in the main X-book, time synced Iceman is fighting for the lives all our old favorite mutant superqueeros! Whose idea was it to stash the academy in Limbo anyway? And will the demon-fighting banter allow Iceman to come out to Northstar, the man he spurned while in the closet?

Teen Titans #14
Who are the Titans without Red Robin? This week Bunker, Garth, Power Girl, and the rest of the Titans figure that out as they set out to find their missing leader.

Midnighter #7
Who was behind the God Garden attack that bestowed metahuman tech on humanity? This week Midnighter finds out who has been empowering the baddies he has been bagging. Want a hint? It's the same dude who stole another celestial secret for the people of Earth a few generations ago...
Harley's Little Black Book #1
Haley's epic team-up series starts here and now! We've seen the tasteless and awesome adventures of Power Girl and Harley in their miniseries and now it's time to see what kind of tasteless and awesome adventures Harley can get up to with the rest of the DC universe! First up is Wonder Woman!

Prez #6
The president and her trans robot bodyguard take on the viral threat to her new nation!

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

SuperQueeros! for November 4th, 2015

Someone on the cover of Extraordinary X-Men #1 is queer! And I'm not talking fan theories, people. This is canon! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Uncanny X-Men #600
Secret Wars was a big hit in all respects but one: it delayed the release of Uncanny X-Men #600 and left us in limbo on whether or not adult Iceman is as queer as his time-displaced younger self. This month we get the answer to that question and (spoilers, but not really)... he is! That means we get well-adjusted gay Iceman in All-New X-Men and broody, newly-outed Iceman in Extraordinary X-Men! Talk about one character representing a diverse community, am I right? Anyway, to celebrate we also get...

Extraordinary X-Men #1
The mystery of the post-Secret Wars status quo for mutants is that Terrigen is killing some of them and sterilizing the rest. Or, as I like to subtitle this scenario, welcome to Decimation II: Children of Men! Iceman is teaming up with Storm, Jean, and the rest of the X-Men to save the mutants or die trying. Personally I'm hoping for a combination of saving the mutants and Bobby finding out that Old Man Logan's new code name is Chicken Hawk...

Midnighter #6
With Bobby and Bobby out on the dating scene, Midnighter is left to represent the homosexual bourgeois fantasy of protecting your sweetie from the machinations of dastardly villains! But will Midnighter take into account that this beau is mortal, or will his assumption that every silver fox has a Kryptonian-level healing factor lead to some miscalculations in planning the rescue mission?

Harley Quinn and Power Girl #5
It's the climactic issue of this miniseries, which I have deduced because the solicitation is just a bunch of climax jokes.

Deadpool #1
Deadpool gets a number one! But will anybody buy it???

Hercules #1
Herc gets an ongoing series too. I heard that Marvel was planning to erase his bisexuality, but unless he makes a gross face at the idea of pashing dudes, I don't see how they will be able to penetrate my head-canon.

Monday, October 5, 2015

SuperQueeros! for October 7th, 2015

It's October, and you know what that means! Pumpkins Autumn PSLs Secret Wars is over! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Avengers #0
Can't wait for your new 'queero-inclusive titles to hit the shelf? Well then pick up this preview of the new post-"God Doom" Avengers line-up. Why are Billy and Teddy joining A.I.M.? What could bring together Galactus and Ms. America Chavez? Find out in this issue!

Midnighter #5
The comic that is blowing up your Tumblr continues as Midnighter and Grayson continue their vampire-slaying vengeance date across Russia! What bon mots and steamy steam room scenes will this book throw at us next?

Detective Comics #45
As the new Batman, Gordon gets to fill a time-honored tradition: joining the Justice League!

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

SuperQueeros! for September 2nd, 2015

Midnighter and Grayson whip out their stakes, the GCPD face a famous daughter, and Kimber and Stormer are implode! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #4
If Midnighter is a blonder, gayer Batman and Grayson is an older, hotter Robin, then is this issue the perfect second date or a vampire slaying spree? Aw, who am I kidding? It's both!

Detective Comics #44
Can Montoya, Sawyer, and the rest of the GCPD survive the onslaught of the Joker's Daughter?

Jem & the Holograms #6
The antics of last issue have the Holograms expelled from the Battle of the Bands and Kimber declining Stormer's calls! Will Jem get them back on stage in time to win the hearts of the music loving universe? Will

House of M #2
Now that Pietro is definitely defecting and betraying his father, will his nephews have to step up to the plate?

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

SuperQueeros! for August 5th, 2015

Only a few 'Queeros this week, but what cool ones they are! SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #3
Steve Orlando's awesome new Midnighter series continues to kick bad guy butt while dating good guy butt! It looks like the baddie of the month is a post-Convergence Multiplex, but who will the date of the month be? And will they be modeled after one of the cast members of CW's The Flash? #ABoyCanDream

Detective Comics #43
Renee, Maggie, new-Batman, and the rest of the team tackle a new enemy!

Morning Glories #47
The likelihood of more Guillaume this issue seems low, especially if the issue follows the progress of Irene's "field trip" to kill Zoe. On the other hand, this series likes to tell a broad story in revealing snippets, so maybe we'll get some more Tower Ball and Boyfriend Resurrection. After all, if Zoe and Jade can cheat death, why can't gay love?

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

SuperQueeros! for July 1st, 2015

Happy Canada Day! Now, let's see what comics are celebrating with some... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #2
Following up from last month's AWESOME issue #1, there's a new deadliest person in town. After the God Garden heist, civilians have been getting accidentally augmented. Looks like Midnighter will have to do some clean-up...

Chew #50
It's time to fight the vampire. 'Nuff said.

Years of Future Past #2
The X-Men have escaped the concentration camps and are fleeing from the Sentinels! But will Mystique help them out, or turn them in?

X-tinction Agenda #2
Karma, Rictor, and the rest of the Genosha crew raid the X-mansion in order to get a mutant healer. But the mansion's residents are not going to cooperate, which means... X-men fight!

I'm also only including A-Force #2 because I'm PRAYING that Ms. America Chavez isn't dead. Fingers crossed for a final page reveal! Also, Archie's Double Digest #262 might have some Kevin Keller cameo, if that's your jam.

Saturday, May 30, 2015

SuperQueeros! for June 3rd, 2015

The best part of reality-warping crossovers is the new starts for all our favorite 'queeros. This week is about resurrections, and frankly I'm freaking because so many are... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Midnighter #1
MIDNIGHTER IS BACK! And he's basically getting his Wolverine Origins treatment as he fights a bunch of escapees from the DCU version of Weapon X's Paradise in order to retreive the files of his pre-superqueero days. Come for the bloodshed, stay for finding out just who is Lucas Trent??? (And did he ever date Kevin Keller?)

Wolverines #20
The last issue! It's been five months, but Mystique is finally bringing back her beloved Destiny! And she might also be bringing back another familiar face.... Will it be Wolverine, the father of one of her new sons that she never seems to be raising? Or her secret husband, Professor X, the father of her other phantom-baby?

Years of Future Past #1
And if one Destiny weren't enough, we get another one in the alternate universe book based on Days of Future Past!

Archie #666
It's the "Sign of the Beast" issue, and the forces of Satan have gathered together to END ARCHIE COMICS! But it isn't all bad news: Kevin Keller gets a variant cover and Archie is going to relaunch next month. Take that, forces of evil!

X-tinction Agenda #1
Remember when Rictor used to be in at least one book every month? Yeah, those were good days... (Fun Fact: As a kid I had a HUGE crush on Rictor!) Anyway, he's in this book! W00t!

All New X-Men #41
The kids, including newly out Iceman, take on the Utopians!

Morning Glories #46
It's time for some independent study. That phrase has never seemed more ominous!

Wicked and Divine #11
Ragnarok ends, which means... a new beginning!

Monday, March 31, 2014

SuperQueeros! for April 2nd, 2014

Beginnings and endings: Stormwatch gives us back the old team in their last issue, Green Lantern returns to Earth 2, and Rachel Rising comes to end... but also a beginning? SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Stormwatch #30
Stormwatch has broken the reality-warping spell that they've been under, and the solicit promises that they will have a new role in the DCnU as of this issue! I wonder what it will be, and if we will get back any of old Stormwatch's unresolved plot threads?

Monday, March 3, 2014

SuperQueeros! for March 5th, 2014

Ugh, look at that She-Hulk cover! I am in love! Also, this week we have a motley collection of some of the best... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

She-Hulk #2
Not sure if there are going to be any 'queeros in this issue, but that cover!

Monday, February 3, 2014

SuperQueeros! For February 5th, 2014

It's a week for expanding casts! Relatives and prospective members show up in Movement, former enemies join the fight in Stormwatch, another new old face graces in Earth 2, and Kamala Kahn debuts as Ms. Marvel! (That last one isn't a 'queero title, as far as I know.) It's an exciting time for... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Movement #9
Batgirl guests and we meet Burden's brother!!! So, do you think he'll be human, or monstrous? And what can Batgirl, still under the impression that she murdered her brother, tell Burden about family conflict?

Monday, January 6, 2014

SuperQueeros! for January 8th, 2014

Happy New Year! Thankfully, we start out the first new comic book day of the new year with some of our old favorite... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Young Avengers #15
Tears! We say good-bye Kieron Gillen's awesome run on YA this week. But with the all-star (and almost-all-queer) set of charas on the cover, who knows what 'queeroic goodies it hides?

Tuesday, December 3, 2013

SuperQueeros! for December 4th, 2013

It's the end of the year and the end of one of this year's most awesome books. Fearless Defenders, we hardly knew ya! Say goodbye to Dr. Riggs, Valkyrie, and Ren this week, and hello to all this week's usual... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, and queer in comics today!

Fearless Defenders #12
In this, the final issue of the unjustly cancelled Fearless Defenders, there's a new cosmically powered teammate, Caroline LeFey meets one of her parents, the Defenders make a stand against the Doom Maidens, AND we get some resolution to the whole Dr. Riggs/Valkyrie thing. That seems like a lot for a single issue of a comic book... Hopefully it won't be 32 pages of exposition like Infinity: The Hunt was last week!
