David Tennant, best known for his portrayal as the tenth Doctor of the long-running British sci-fi series Doctor Who, is teaming up with long-time geek icon and newly knighted Sir Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame in a BBC production of the Bard's beloved masterpiece Hamlet. The production is airing in America on PBS as a part of their Great Performances series. You can find more information on local listing on their website. Additionally, the entire broadcast will be available on pbs.org after it airs next Wednesday, April 28th.
I for one will be glued to the TV (or rather my computer screen as I have given Time Warner Cable the boot). Am I the only one hoping for a soliloquy starting with "To be or not to EXTERMINATE!" Hamlet in Space for the win.
So. much. nerd. right. now. #excited
I can only dream of all the Tennant/Stewart and Doctor/Picard slash to be made. Release the fangirls!

I Was A Teenage Cyborg or CRAZY CONTACT LENSES
Whether its Robocop, Terminator, or BSG Cylons, nerds love cyborgs. We are now getting closer and closer to becoming the high tech uber-men of science fiction thanks to scientists at the University of Washington who have developed solar powered augmented contact lenses. These lenses are intended to be embedded with hundreds of small LEDs in order to create images directly on the eye. The scientists postulate that the use of these lenses could be used for anything from augmented reality applications to assisting hearing impaired people identify location of noises. via inhabitat

We are one step closer to Star Trek
Gizmodo posted about these wicked cool completely flat input devices being developed by Minebea, a Japanese company. They require no top keys and avoid those awkward keyboard maintenance including shaking all the dust and crumbs that fall into your device. But more importantly, I see a direct through line from these flat input devices:

Wristband communicator? I'm so there.
Gizmodo the gadget blog to beat posted about this Wristband Communicator. Granted it's only really a bluetooth headset on a wristband... but how else am I going to communicate with the other Power Rangers?
This is the next best thing in my effort to become a Starfleet officer. These Starfleet Communicators also posted on Gizmodo are slowly but surely bringing science fiction into the present.
Alls I got to say is one word:
"Engage"
