Superqueeros! for December 22nd, 2010

HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND KWANZAA!!!!!! The comic book industry can sense when you're about to get gift cards to your local comic book store (call it a Spectacular Spider-Man Sense) and so they're throwing caution to the wind and inundating the market with new comics on Wednesday. I'm serious: things about the get crazy. So who's gay on Wednesday?

Wildcats #30

Did you read The Authority #29? Do you know who the new Doctor is? Are you ready for The End of All Things (Wildstorm)? This is THE ISSUE, guys! Apocalypse came to Wildstorm and it's about to be retconned, solved, or otherwise resolved as we meet the fastest Doctor ever to hold the title! Expect Rainmaker, Apollo, and Midnighter cameos, as well as EVERY OTHER WILDSTORM CHARACTER EVER. If Christmas is about family, then this is the most Christmas-y comic you'll read this month! #soexcited

New Mutants #20

TEAM UP. We all know that Karma is the most important New Mutant (certainly the most interesting), but FINALLY the universe agrees. With every other New Mutant held captive by the Purgatory Babies, Karma and Magik are going to rally Utopia and save their friends! Well, unless they're too late. Then the world is going to end. And in Marvel there's no Doctor to fix everything when your planet gets turned into a hell-dimension. #whoops!

Uncanny X-Men #531

Quarantine continues! E'erybody on Utopia is sick! Wolvie is DYING! Rockslide is... basically over? How does a psychic entity get sick again? PLOT HOLES ASIDE, Northstar is going to be KICKING BUTT this month! As one of the 5 X-men outside of the quarantine, he, Dazzler, Pixie, Angel, and Storm are going to be putting the smack down on Sublime's latest home-made mutants and, hopefully, the Collective Man! People have criticized this storyline as being, basically, exactly what Grant Morrison did during New X-Men, to which I say: New X-Men was AMAZING!!!!! Don't knock a working formula! And buy this book, even though Greg Land is doing the art!

Daken: Dark Wolverine #4

Okay, so this book is called "Daken: Dark Wolverine" but, according to the solicit, Daken is going to be forging a new identity after faking his death last issue? Meaning that this comic book is about to NOT be about Daken, since he's presumably going to be selecting a new moniker, and is DEFINITELY not about "Dark Wolverine" (sooo 2009) ? So why does it retain the outdated name? PLOT HOLES ASIDE, Marjorie Liu and Daniel Way rock at writing, so this is going to be a ball-busting issue no matter who it stars. I wonder if Daken's going to refrain from using his claws in his new identity? The cover shows him fighting the FF; will Johnny et al. be able to recognize their former friend? And what is the next step in Daken's plan for world conquest???

Honorable Mentions after the cut!
Wonder Woman #605

Diana vs The Morrigan! The solicit tells us that Diana is facing off against one of the three Morrigan, and Wikipedia tells us that there is no definitive story to that. Evidently in Latin texts morrigans are scary evil monster ladies and in Ireland it's a proper noun that refers to either a war goddess or a trio of goddesses. Does this mean that for JMS's Wonder Woman she's defending her people and her religion against the very real attacks on them by other pantheons? There are more questions than answers here, but never have I been more excited for a Wonder Woman book than this month! Irish goddesses fighting the champion of the Greeks? This is what comics were made for!

X-Men: Legacy #243

As Jason noted, Bling! is one of the X-Men within the radius of Karima's wrath, so even though this book seems to be focusing more on Hope helping Julian deal with the anger he has over loosing his arms we may get some queer cameos! Also, Mike Carey is a god amongst scribes.

X-Men #6

This is the ultimate issue of X-men vs. Vampires! It's the mutants against Dracula, perhaps one of the X-Men's most classic conflicts. But this time there's an additional element: Jubilee is among the enemy! How will the X-men save one of their own without losing any more compatriots??? And will Bling! get to do some slaying???? #ToughSkinGang

SuperQueeros! for November 24th, 2010

It's Northstar Week! Not only is Northstar one-half of the un-quarantined X-men in Uncanny's creatively named "Quarantine" storyline, but Sasquatch's deal with the Great Beasts leads to Jean-Paul's inclusion in an awesome revival of the original Alpha Flight line-up for the Chaos War! Also, as if that weren't enough, Lafayette tells his story in the True Blood mini, the Wildcats' penultimate issue hits stores, and one of the New Mutants falls to the Inferno Babies! Plus GCS and Madame Xanadu! This is the best Thanksgiving EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chaos War: Alpha Flight
The most awesome Northstar-featuring comic this week (imo) sees the revival of his deceased teammates as they get one issue to help bring down the Chaos King. The premise for this event's tie-in books is: every living person is asleep and defenseless, so deceased heroes have been revived to fight an onslaught of attacking gods. I'm not sure if these characters stay relevant to the storyline after this one-shot, but whether or not they do I'm excited: I've not read any of the original Alpha Flight run and now, just like Marina, Vindicator, Guardian, and Shaman, I get a second chance!

Uncanny X-Men #530
If Chaos War: Alpha Flight is the most awesome Northstar-inclusive title this week, then Uncanny X-men is the most fabulous. The "Quarantine" storyline is, essentially, that Anole and the kids get sick (ANOLE ALERT!) and Utopia is quarantined from the outside world. Meanwhile, stuff starts going down outside the island, and the sick mutants start losing their powers. Where does Northstar come in to the equation? Well there are only two mutants NOT on Utopia when the quarantine starts: Dazzler and Northstar. Yup, we're about to get a full story arc of a super-diva and her super-GBF kicking butt all over San Fransisco. Who said all the X-Gays were metaphors only? #awesome #buyit

EDIT: Okay, Northstar and Dazzler aren't the ONLY un-quarantined X-Men. But 20% gay is still very gay!

True Blood #5
Lafayette's story! It's finally here! The second-to-last issue of the True Blood mini is out this week and we finally get to hear some of what Lafayette's been hiding. If you've been missing the fabulous fry cook while TB is off the air, this is the book for you. Plus, if you like Ryan Kwanten's Jason in compromising positions this book features just that sort of tale too!

Wildcats #29
Everything ends in #30! With one issue to go before everything hits the fan expect this issue to be a game-changer. Who will be the new Doctor? Will Apollo smash more golems like a blond Hulk? And is the ship headed toward Earth the Carrier or something worse????

New Mutants #19
This is the end of "Fall of the New Mutants" but it's definitely not the end of the Project Purgatory storyline! One of Marvel's Mutants is "fallen" and "no longer a part of the New Mutants" by the end of this issue, but I have a feeling that will play heavily into our heroes' successful counterstrike next month(s). Whatever happens, however, this issue is looking to be a turning point for our heroes as they're pushed to the max to overcome the overwhelming force that is: The Purgatory Babies! #KarmaKickingButt

SuperQueeros! for October 27th, 2010

X-Men: Curse of the Mutants - X-Men vs. Vampires #2
KARMA STORY! The traditional annual collection of X-Men character vignettes has rolled around to it's requisite queer story, and it's about KARMA! I've definitely been missing my monthly Karma-inclusive stories ever since New Mutants started ignoring its X-men to focus on Project Purgatory, so this is going to be like a rainstorm in the desert for me! And it's about her being in Weight Watchers (BEST NOD TO THE 80s EVER) and having a metal leg (THANK YOU FOR FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGING IT) and checking out the sexy ladies! So basically it's amazing. #getit

X-Men: Legacy #241
The conclusion to the Dubai story! Anole + Loa + butt-kicking = AWESOME. I can't wait to see what happens to Luz (is she going to become a cast member for the new book? Is she going to be an X-Ally, thereby mitigating or ending the threat of the Children of the Vault?) and how Magneto and Rogue end their trip together. I figure that they won't hate each other, given that Magneto is getting his own continuing series, but I'm also hoping they don't hook-up. Now that Rogue can control her powers she should go find some GOOD love interests! #Anole!!!

Wildcats #28
So the world is basically exploding around our heroes right now as Gaia tries to kill everything, Ladytron has resurrected a robot army to take on the Spirit of the Earth, and those not on damage control are trying to find a new Doctor quickly who can cure the planet and set things to rights. Midnighter has so far been MIA in this new storyline, but Apollo is at ground zero, fighting to keep Gaia at bay. Hopefully we'll get some character development for him this issue? #notlikely

JSA #44
New creative team!!! Obsidian isn't featured on the cover or the variant cover, so I'm not holding my breath for his inclusion in this title, but it was his last known team affiliation. Hopefully he's included and used, and the spotlight he and his father had last issue wasn't a farewell issue to placate fanboys and fangirls. #fingerscrossed

Wonder Woman #604
AWESOME! Another story arc resolution this week as JMS's first Wonder Woman tale closes out. NewDiana faces down the man who re-wrote reality and turned her world (and ours!) upside-down! I don't usually advocate misandry but, Diana, KICK HIM IN THE BALLS!

Madame Xanadu #28
It's the last of the Five Senses as Xanadu helps a chibopath (see Chew) who's starving from all the stories she's eating! MX continues to be a very entertaining read, though I'm not sure what aspect made it a GLAAD nominee last year... ALSO: next month is THE SIXTH SENSE!!!!!!!!

SuperQueeros! for September 22nd, 2010

Wow. This is an auspicious week for queer characters in comic books. Look how many titles they're featured in this week:

Wildcats #27
That's right. One. One comic book. Hopefully Apollo and/or Midnighter are featured, since the cast of this title is HUGE and neither one of Wildstorm's First Husbands of Heroics are mentioned in the solicit (though, come on: this is Midnighter's book!). Either way, it's the only comic we've got this week, so pick it up and see how the guardians of a wasted Earth work to solve the myriad of issues the apocalypse has left behind!

SuperQueeros! for August 25th, 2010

I'm a proponent of using bisexuality to make storyline-flexible queer characters. By definition the lesbian and gay communities' romantic dramas are insular and often disconnected from our day-to-day interactions with the (majority straight) rest of the world. IMO, bisexuality is a great way to let new and old characters have a queer storyline, while not invalidating past romances or forbidding future non-queer couplings. Plus it fights bi-phobia! And if this week is any indication, it's a track that a few good writers are taking advantage of:

Dark Wolverine #90
It's the end of Dark Wolverine! Well, this series, at least! Stay tuned, though, as Daken moves from one eponymous solo series to another with next month's launch of Daken: Dark Wolverine #1!! (Oh, right, this month: find out how the "Dark Wolverine" segment of Daken's life ends! He totally flirts with a gay anti-mutant activist in the preview, so #hot and #thought-provoking!)

X-Factor #208
Rahne's back! And like any good storyline featuring pregnancy and bisexuality (#oxymoron) we get a pregnant-wolf-woman vs. cloned-alien-swordmaster betch-fight! It'll be like a flashback to Rahne's X-Force days (last month?), but with better writing! And, side note, isn't this baby NOT Rictor's? Like, isn't it some Norse wolf-god's spawnling? Layla Miller: Puppy Edition, subtitle: "I Smell Stuff"? Meaning Rahne should stick with her baby wolf-daddy, not break up my longest fan 'ship?

Anyway, back to the main plot, stuff with the Norse hell goddess Hela is going down or something. To paraphrase Pam Ravenscroft "Blah, blah, Norse emergency, blah."

X-Men: Legacy #239
ANOLE!!!!!!! LOA!!!!!!!!!!! KILLING ROBOTS!!!!!!! It's like the good old days of Kitty phasing through Sentinels all over again, but with more explosions and punching! This is one of my fav books on the market today, and it has Anole AND Rogue! (And Magneto and Loa and Indra!) #buyit

Wildcats #26
Blah, blah, magic emergency, blah. Apollo + Midnighter are in this book! They're not listed in the solicitation, and with a team this expansive they might not be in the book at all, but get it anyway! Because gay marriage is teh cutexorz!!!!!

Justice League of America #48
The end of the Starheart saga! A White Lantern reveal!!! Some Obsidian/Starman make outs? I don't think I remembered to get this month's issue of the JSA, but when last I left our gay boy and bi boy one was evil and one was unconscious. Plus they'll have to finish fighting Obsidian's dad before they can "have each other's adopted babies," but I've still got my fingers crossed! #wallacewellsrocks

Wonder Woman #602
Blah, blah, amazon-rape secrets, blah. Wonder Woman kicks some more guyz and stuff and finds out some scary thingz. I'm buying it, but there's been no indication of queerness, just butt-kicking. And the weirdest woman-in-the-refrigerator storyline evar. But what they're doing with an iconic character is interesting, if fated to be as fleeting as Superman's post-resurrection redesign.

Gotham City Sirens #15
Denouement and new storylines! Catwoman deals with the aftermath of her battle with her sister and Poison Ivy's new job takes an interesting turn! They say villains drive stories, and this is one of the best books out there, so Q.E.D., I guess. The Sapphism might be a little on the light side to warrant a place in this column, but by femme-fatalism (a new category of "awesome") it makes the post.

Madame Xanadu #26
Boys are smelly! Well, at least this boy is. Sammy's malodorous melodrama is the focus of this issue of the GLAAD-nominated comic. Will MX be able to help Sammy, or will this comic just stink?

Monday, July 26, 2010

SuperQueeros! for July 28th, 2010

The New:
X-Men: Legacy #238
As my personal fav X-person, Anole's comic this week gets top billing. Anole, Loa, Rogue, and Magneto accompany Indra back to India to find out what's got his parents in such a tizzy that they would beg their mutant son to come home. Meanwhile, a young, blonde girl interdimensional alien is about to break into 616 and spice things up even more! And, did I mention?, Anole is in this comic book! #BEST

Justice League of America #47
The JSA + JLA crossover continues in this, the third issue in the five-part crossover. Obsidian (and his dad) are still being controlled by the havoc-wreaking Starheart and it's up to the unaffectable members of the two super-teams to put them down! Hopefully they'll de-brain-wash Obsidian this month; I want to see him and Jade kick some butt together!

The Authority: The Lost Year #11
It's the penultimate issue of the long-awaited, Grant Morrison-planned storyline! The Authority have landed in a universe where they're world-ruling facists. Which, if you recall their take over of America, is a bit more like looking a mirror for The Authority than would make anyone comfortable. Either way, though, it's new Apollo-Midnighter goodness, so pick it up!

The Delayed:
Wildcats #25
Yeah, this didn't end up coming out the week I wrote about it. So pick it up this week!

The Questioning:
Detective Comics #827
So the solicit for last month told us that "Batwoman and the Question" were coming back this month. But the solicit for DC 827 is CLEARLY for a story about Batman, and there is no mention whatsoever about a Question (+ Batwoman?) back-up. It's still on my pull list, so I'll let you know if our two fav caped lesbian exes make an appearance or not.
Detective is all Batman! Not even a Question follow-up! BUT Renee isn't sitting on her butt! She pays a visit to Saint Walker in this month's Green Lantern, #56!!!!

Wonder Woman #601
If Gail Simone isn't writing Wonder Woman, is it still a story about a superhero from an island of lesbians? Especially if that island paradise was raped, razed, and turned to rubble? And is that elephant-riding hottie Achilles still alive/a homo? Only one way to find out, I guess! #Readon!

Gotham City Sirens #14
One of the best series to come out of the death of Batman, the GCS are facing potential break-up as a result of the meddling of their antagonists! Will these three questionably-close femme fatales break-up or make-up? And is that Talia Al-Ghul on the cover of next month's issue...? #spoilers?

Madame Xanadu #25
HEARING! The MX storyline about the senses continues as Spencer, a man gifted with extraordinary hearing, begins to pick up on some not-very-nice voices. Angry voices. Lust-filled voices. One might even say... demon voices! Can Madame Xanadu intervene in time or will Spencer be lost to the din in his head?

Monday, July 12, 2010

SuperQueeros! for July 15th, 2010

Wildcats #25
Last issue Zealot and Midnighter decided to throw down over Zealot's morally problematic baby-factory. This issue? PAYOFF. Of course, according to the solicit, it doesn't look like we'll settle the issue of who would win the fight because the fighting will probably stop when someone"gets caught in the crossfire". Hopefully that only happens after ten pages of @$$-kicking action, though!

X-Men: Hellbound #3
The conclusion of the most gay-friendly X-men storyline I've ever read! The conflicts have been set up: evil-ized Dazzler, Northstar, & Gambit vs not-evilized Cannonball & Anole, and Magik vs Pixie and a Demon. Things about to get CRAZY. I'm hoping that we find out more about Gambit's transformations, but that he still retains the ability to transform upon leaving Limbo, and that this issue will mark an end to Anole's asymmetry, either by his regrowing a twinkier, less awkward arm, or by his losing the left arm too. Also, I'd like a guest appearance by Dex-Starr, please?

The Authority: The Lost Year #10
This is where the end begins! The Authority have battled themselves across many multiple universes, but in this month's issue they come face to face with the most evil incarnations of themselves yet. You thought used car salesmen were bad? Well this Authority is an iron-willed fascist government, complete with internment camps and bad facial hair (I'm guessing)! Can Midnighter, Apollo, and the rest of the gang wrest power away from their crazy clones, or will we find out that the Authority we've been reading about in World's End is actually a bunch of inter-dimensional Nazi invaders???? Or maybe blah, blah, moral ambiguity, violence, character development, blah?

New Mutants #15
Remember Inferno? Yeah, I wasn't literate then either. But Zeb Wells does! (Or has a library card!) Because there's a platoon from Purgatory about to rain heck down on our recovering New Mutant heroes, and it ain't gonna be pretty! Though frequently side-tracked by the species-wide crossovers of the past six months, this is the storyline that New Mutants has been working toward. Why is Magik back? What alternate, horrible future is she trying to prevent? What nefarious purpose does Project Purgatory serve? What cool stuff will Karma's robot leg be able to do??? All this and more will be answered in these pages, people. All this, and MORE!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

SuperQueeros! for June 23rd

Only three titles this week, and all three feature male couples. Who said gays can't commit?

The Authority: The Lost Year #9
It's the Authority vs. a used car salesman as our intrepid, dimension-hopping team lands in a land where Midnighter passed over the crusade against evil in favor of the crusade against high prices! The Lost Year is almost over and anything can happen (as long as it unhappens before World's End)!

Wildcats #24
Meanwhile, in the present, Midnighter has been checking up on Zealot and Maul since they broke away from Spartan's world-spanning Wildcats initiative, and from the preview we can tell he's not liking what he's seeing. Zealot is training her own army, ostensibly to protect Earth. But where is she getting Kheran warriors? This comic is about to take its ass-kicking with a side of moral ambiguity, IMO, and I am soooo hungry for it!

X-Factor #206
The last of the Second Coming tie-in trilogy! Did you read the preview??? Did half the team die in an explosion??? I mean, no, of course they didn't, but I AM STILL INTRIGUED. Also, Shatterstar inevitably kicks butt in this issue and it is inevitably HOTT. #buyit!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Superqueeros! for May 26th, 2010

Wildcats #23

Part one of three!! The Wildcats have finally set up a home base for their operations, so now it's time to start solving some mysteries! Jackson King and Ladytron are on the hunt for the new Doctor, but back at the ranch an army of baddies is on the rise! Apollo and Midnighter will no doubt be cameo-ing in this storyline (if only as boyfriend ex machina), and the World's End Wild-verse is one of the most exciting universes I've ever read. #pickoftheweek

Wonder Woman #44

THE ULTIMATE SIMONE WONDER WOMAN!!!!! While Gail will be joining JMS, Geoff Johns, and more next month on the anthology issue #600, this is the last issue penned exclusively by Simone before JMS takes over writing duties! And while I'm super excited for JMS's take on the power princess, I'm also expecting the amazing beefcake to drop off after the switch in writers. Which is tres triste, y'all. Tres triste.

Dark Wolverine #86
Daken Vs. Wolverine! Also, Romulus Vs. Skaar, but whatever. Daken Vs. Wolverine!!!! Lots of daddy jokes!!! I'm so excited for the stabbing and the bitching! And the this-storyline-is-not-a-dream! That will be a welcome relief from this title's status quo! Also, hot inked sociopaths!

Detective Comics #865

The Batman story in this book is actually quite good. But that's not why DC865 is featured in this blog post! The Question is nearing the end of her storyline and this issue the solicits promise a reveal of the big bad! The Question is the only reason I'm still picking up this book now that Batwoman is gone/on hiatus/elsewhere, and it's a testament to the quality of her story that I'm plunking down the dineros for her mini-comic. So git it!

Gotham City Sirens #12

Poison Ivy's in trouble! Will her sirens come to her aid, or will she have to outsmart her former employee and save her own life? It might not be explicitly queer, but GCS has definitely found its feet and is a consistently awesome book about the DCU's most compelling villains.

Madame Xanadu #23

It's the end! Not of the series, but of the storyline that pits the Madame against her sister Morgana. The solicits promise a fight to the death, but for mystical immortals that's, I'm sure, simply a relative term. Check out the action packed conclusion of this GLAAD-nominated book's most exciting storyline!

SuperQueeros! for April 28th, 2010

I'm like Cerebro for queer comic book characters; these are my findings:

Wildcats #22
Wow. I am continually impressed by the balls it takes to commit to and coordinate the line-wide re-haul/mega-event that Wildstorm is going through ATM. The two page spread in this month's issue of Wildcats that shows the current full cast of the book is staggering. And it's got Apollo and Midnighter front and center! Definitely the book I'm most looking forward to this week!

The Authority: The Lost Year #8
...and it's a double dose this week of our favourite married superqueeros because, according to comixology, this issue didn't ship last week. ;-P

Detective Comics #864
Well, Batwoman is absent from the main story this issue (and the next two), but the Question back-up is still queer-positive and queer-inclusive, so don't take the title off your pull list just yet! First, make a big scene about how Batwoman isn't in this issue and that you'll pick it back up when it has 100% more lesbian per serving! #myplan

Wonder Woman #43
Simone continues to break new ground for the mythology of Wonder Woman even as her term as writer comes to an end! This issue we get some insight into the costume as well as some further development for the character of Wonder Woman's "aunt". Who is she? Why does she want to strip mine Earth? Where did she get her snake earrings (they are funky)? #allthisandmore

Gotham City Sirens #11
The Sirens work to "stem the madness and mayhem" of Gotham as something more evil than our anti-heroines runs amok in the Big City. Does anyone else see this whole scenario as antithetical to who these characters are? Shouldn't at least Harley revel in the madness? I mean, isn't that her thing???? #stillLezYay

Madame Xanadu #22
GLAAD-endorsed Madame Xanadu is coming to a head as the title sets up a final conflict between sisters Morgana and the Madame. I don't know much else, but the solicitation makes it sound like a fun read!

Monday, March 22, 2010

SuperQueeros! for March 24th

Each week I find the queers in comics and let you know who's gaily kicking @$$! This week:

Wildcats #21
The Wildcats are on the fence as their first post-Apollo and Midnighter story finishes up. Based on the preview, if Apollo isn't the deus ex machina, at least he'll get a cameo. Based on the solicits, however, the writer wants to kill off some people: hopefully Apollo isn't going to become a death-for-Midnighter's-character-development. #candysouthern

X-Factor #203
M and Guido are going on a trip to smack some betches down. No Rictor and Shatterstar this issue, but expect a whole lot of smack down and associated awesome. Also, according to the solicits, we'll "never guess who's behind it all". I choose Penance, based on the dream sequence that starts the issue and the fact that Peter David can do awesome things with characters whose only purpose was to act as plot devices.

Corner of the Queer Eye:
Uncanny X-Men #522
Though not prominently featuring queers, UXM always has quite a few gay cameos. Much more importantly, though, KITTY COMES BACK THIS ISSUE!!!! #buyit

Justice Society of America #37
We might get to see the Obsidian Egg this issue! The baddies are turning on their power-negating engine that they made out of my favourite hapless gay security guard/superhero. All in all, a nice story that doesn't seem to have any (awake) queer characters only because the gay guy's dad saddled him with trope-based abilities. #InfiniteEnergyPowers

Monday, February 22, 2010

SuperQueeros! for February 24th

What an awesome day in the life of Queer comics! Don't know which titles will be featuring homos in spandex? Well here's the (extensive, though not necessarily complete) list!

Wildcats #20

Midnighter isn't gone, he just changed teams!!! (To the Wildcats. He's still a queer-mo.) I was pissed when, post-World's End, Midnight was booted from The Authority, but it's not that he was dropped as a character, he was just traded to the Wildcats because his beau is still extra-terrrestrial atm! Sorry for any slandering I've done, Wildstorm! Now pleeeeease rescue Apollo, okay?

X-Factor #202

Just like the cover promises, it's pansexual Shatterstar versus Top Ten Villain Doctor Doom! With M and the Thing! Can this get better? What's that, Valeria Richards is in this issue??? Oh DAAAAAAAAAAAANG this is gonna be good! (Plus maybe will get some more answers about Layla's involvement in all this!)

Batman and Robin #9

The final issue in the three part Batwoman crossover! Kathy Kane is gonna rise again, thanks to the Lazarus pit buried in the rubble that crushed her to death, but will she be the same Batwoman we've come to know and love, or something more twisted, more feral, more insane, and more awesome?

Nation X #3

ANOLE ISSUE!!!!! With Danger and Armor!!! This issue is a must-have for fans of the green-spiked lizard-boy and for anyone who loves short, fast, self-contained, good stories. These tie-ins are fast becoming my favourite X-title thanks to their diverse cast of characters and diverse-er creative crews!

Dark Wolverine #83

Seige! Killing Osbourne! Achieving his destiny as a villain! I think all of these things are in this issue, plus a bisexual sociopath. Who needs okcupid when this title exists???

Wonder Woman #41

Part Two of the Crows storyline finds Wonder Woman fighting Power Girl and every sane person in the world buying this book. Punching, cleavage, and knocking down buildings. The only thing that could make it more perfect is if it were written by Gail Simone. Oh, wait!

Gotham City Sirens #9

The Riddler's back this week, making this issue the most "Questioning" title in all of comic-dom. Are any of these characters still queer?

JSA #36

Obsidian's name was in this week's solicits, meaning that Bill hasn't forgotten about him, and hopefully meaning that we'll get some rescuing action ASAP! But I think Obby is still an egg, atm...
