Hey Betches!

Hi folks! So we've been known to go on hiatuses every now and then... but this last one was a doozy! We're back this week and in rare form. This episode is all ladies all the time. With Marvel's release of Fearless Defenders and their all women X-men, we've got a lot of divas floatin' around. We also shake our fists at Peter David for possibly killing off two of our favorite queeros, and facepalm at Demon Knights' new gendered treatment of Sir Ystin. We got a lot more this episode. Buffy, Willow, and Xander are reunited and off on an adventure! The only problem is that one of them is a traitor, and the little adventure they're undertaking is mostly just a distraction so that the baddies can do some deviousness! That is, unless that sentient red balloon is hella powerful...

Demon Knights #21

Vandal and Etrigan with the Holy Grail?! That can't be good! What will vampire Ystin have to say about that, I wonder...

Wolverine and the X-Men #31

The lil' Hellfire babies have started their own academy for kidnapped X-men! Luckily they made primo hiring choices and Mystique is leading the staff! (She is sure wearing a lot of hats these days!)

And what role will bi girl Bling! have in this title, given that the first two pages set up a mysterious conflict between her and Mercury...?

Morning Glories #27

Season 2 starts here! And the title is... "There Are No Beginnings". So what does that mean for the resolution of the threads set up at the end of issue #26? Will Cassie end up saving everyone? Will dead people be coming back? Now that his twin is gone, what name will Jun/Hisao go by? And will his bf survive Irena's quickly unraveling psychosis?

Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's masterpiece continues! From the preview it looks like the Loki who just betrayed our hipster heroes has caught a case of the "Tom Hiddlestons" and reverted to a movie-verse level of mischief-doing. The real question, though, is if the Bode-ghost of his more altruistic incarnation will be able to kick the butt of his former self and regain control of both his body and Wiccan's powers! Also, how is the currently powerless Wiccan faring against the tide of zombie-parents currently charging the rest of the Young Avengers?

Fearless Defenders #4.1

Backstory issue! We get the connection between the current storyline's villain, Caroline LeFay, and the more familiar Morgan. And it involves... Doctor Doom?? Hopefully we get to see some of Dr. Annabelle Riggs too, since it looks like it's going to be mostly Hippolyta-focused. Hey, maybe they were girlfriends! And got simultaneous amnesia! #comics

The solicit is short and sweet: Batwoman is getting played. And the game is Bat vs Bat. But with the talking skeleton-man turning from Lawful Neutral to Puppeteering Evil, what role could be in store for his prisoner, Kate's sister Alice? And will his field agent, Chase, be able to stomach it?

X-Factor #256

M IS DEAD! (So I guess we know who will hold the throne of Hell by the end of this issue...) Normally I'd be psyched at M's power-up, and we ALL know that Peter David is basically my author idol, but this smacks of White Crown ascension: a promotion to CEO of the company's BFN division. And with Banshee's ascension to banshee occurring less than a year ago, this whole thing smacks of some sort of hybrid between Whedon's kill-a-character ethos and reckless disregard for female comic characters. Basically, I'm readying my ire. David, don't eff this up!

Batgirl #20

Last month Gail Simone gave us a new trans character in Batgirl's roommate, Alysia! Let's hope that this month our newest 'queero gets some story!

Will Alexis be able to stop him? And what's in that glowing red bag that Agent Twilight liberated from that clearly-a-set-up "arms dealer"? And who wants him to have it? Diabolical shapeshifting robot Ruth, perhaps????

Iceman has some fallout from his time in the AoA. Probably something to do with that death seed that Dark Beast shoved into him? I'm sure his ex, Mystique, will only be helpful in this situation!

And by surprises, they mean retcons: Valkyrie kissed a maiden in the first issue and in issue 3 figured out that her whole origin is bupkiss: she's a Doom Maiden!!!! Hopefully this won't affect her budding relationship with Dr. Annabelle Riggs...

Life with Archie: Archie Marries Veronica #39

So evidently the political muckraking is about to begin for Kevin's senatorial campaign. I'm just confused: if Kevin publicly married Clay, how is it going to be a controversial issue that his opponent can exploit? Unless marriage equality isn't the norm in Future!Riverdale? Because it's impossible to have unrepentant haters in the Archie-verse, right??

Witchblade #166

Now that Sara knows the truth about the remade universe, it's time to bring it down, starting with the world's only honest politician. Will Dani step in to stop her?
