In the wake of great personal tragedy, the theme seems to be one of a funhouse reflection of reality: it's apocalypses and Hell on Earth this week for... SuperQueeros: all that's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgendered, and queer in comics today.
It looks like the D.E.O., specifically Agent Chase, has been planning to take down Kate for a while. So much so, in fact, that we get some backstory on the blonde bureaucrat. And it looks pretty sweet, in a Watchmen-esque fashion! Plus, the return of someone from Batwoman's past, and it is being strongly hinted that it's Kate's twice-dead sister, Alice! Or is there some deeper Kane family secret that is about to be revealed...?
Astonishing X-Men #51
It's Jean-pocalypse!!! AoA Jean has taken the Apocalypse seed into herself and is going to attempt to stop the multiverse-devouring Extermination from devouring every universe! Without going insane and Apocalypse-level evil that is. Will she be a new Dark Phoenix? Will her White Crown alter-ego come put her in her place? Or is this the beginning of a terrible new era for the AoA????
Chew #33
John Colby is going to work for Applebee! With both gays going against the story's protagonist, how will Tony retaliate? Well, for starters he's going on assignment with a bunch of hot navy officers while John is stuck in a veritable apocalypse: lending his shoulder to his weeping and wailing bosses. Sigh, poor Colby... the straight chibiopaths have all the fun...
Mara #4
Mara's brother resurfaces as the military reaches out to the new superhero. Will he be enough of a bargaining chip to sway Mara to the side of shadowy government ops???
X-Factor #254
Speaking of apocalypses, you should see what New York looks like in this month's X-Factor! The city hasn't looked this bad since it merged with Limbo in Inferno! Thankfully, this story is about one million times better than that one.
Wonder Woman #19
Diana and ORION?!?!?!?!?! (At least it's better than Diana and Supes...)
1 betches:
So does Jean's status as the White Phoenix of the Crown not extend into the multiverse? I mean, I guess she's got dominion over the inner workings of an entire universe, which is cool, but man...not all of them?
