Squaresville (and Other YouTube 'Mo's)

Just a quick shout-out to two of my favorite series on YouTube (besides the WillSon segments from Days of Our Lives, that is!):
The first is Squaresville, a series that just started its second season and uploads a new episode every Friday. Squaresville is a comedy that follows a group of nerdy high schoolers, most specifically best friends Zelda (Mary Kate Wiles) and Esther (Kylie Sparks), as they navigate everyone's favorite culture touchstone of Bildungsroman, high school. But if suburban high school drama is comedic fodder 101, why should you check it out? Because the actors are awesome, the wit is sharp and nerdy, Zelda's boy friend (Wayne played by David Ryan Speer) is totes dreamy AND someone in the main cast comes out in the first season's finale episode! Plus, the president of the D&D club is really into phallic handles on his replica swords and might have a crush on Zelda and Ester's neighbor Percy?

Secondly, if you haven't already heard, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is CONSUMING the 'Tube with its awesome dramatics. Based on Pride and Prejudice, the central conceit of LBD is that heroine Lizzie is an aspiring vlogger whose life takes a turn for the troubled shortly after she starts sharing her life with the world. Oh, and they have a pretty major queer character: Darcy's BFF, Fitz. The story is in its endgame right now, so do yourself a favor and catch up on the 80-something episodes (5 minutes long, posted on Mondays and Thursdays) and the 50-ish spin-off episodes (posted on Tuesdays and Fridays by ancillary characters on their own YouTube channels) so that you can join me in cheering on romantic comedy's original supercouple! Oh, and did I mention that most of these fictional characters have accounts on basically ANY social media site you can think of? The multi-platform storytelling of this show is AMAZING!
